SmartAdjust Algorithm
Unlike other systems that rely heavily on your programmed basal rates, the Omnipod 5 is adaptive. It looks at your Total Daily Insulin (TDI) over the past few days to establish your baseline needs, then adjusts micro-boluses every 5 minutes based on predicted glucose 60 minutes out.
Algorithm Location
Crucially, the SmartAdjust algorithm lives on the pod itself, not on the controller. This means that if you leave your controller or smartphone at home, the pod and the CGM will continue to communicate and adjust insulin delivery automatically.
